Milspec Energy Solutions was engaged as a subcontractor for the installation of four (4) 33 kV 10.7 MVAR harmonic filter bays within the existing live 330 kV Wellington Substation.
The works involved the complete construction and commissioning of four individual bays, including:
- Civil modifications to existing structures and foundations to accommodate the new harmonic filter equipment.
- Alterations and extensions to the existing earth grid to integrate the new installations safely within the live substation environment.
- Installation of all primary and secondary equipment associated with each harmonic filter bay.
- Full turnkey delivery, encompassing construction, electrical and mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning in accordance with Transgrid standards and operational requirements.
These works were executed under live substation conditions, requiring strict adherence to safety, access, and operational protocols to ensure zero disruption to the 330 kV network.
